Karel Beer
This month the Funky Team introduces you to Alexandra from Funky Maps and the Funky Paris Pub Crawl. Alexandra is the new assistant editor, marketing, pubcrawl leader/organiser, and etc. at funky maps magazine.
- Funky Paris: Hi Alex, What made you come all the way from Canada to Paris
- Alex: I was backpacking around Europe, when I got an email telling me the company I had been working for since graduation was downsizing and my job was included in that. So I decided to stay in Europe, and I'd always wanted to learn French, so I thought "Why not Paris?".
- Funky Paris: What's it like working for FunkyMaps?
- Alex: Mostly it's awesome. I run the pubcrawl every week and pretty much my job is to PAR-TAY. Working for the magazine can be stressful sometimes, but the editor is pretty easy to get along with, so it works. It's a lot more involved than I think I realised when I started.
- Funky Paris: Being Canadian do you actually like hockey and curling, or is that just a myth?
- Alex: Uhhh well I do like hockey (go Vancouver Canucks!!!) but I don't go out of my to watch it. As for curling, I don't watch curling but I have curled before a couple of times... maybe 5 times in my whole life.
- Funky Paris: What's your tipple?
- Alex: Anything that is not tequila or black licorice flavoured.
- Funky Paris: What is your marital status?
- Alex: Single most of the time... and if you have a problem with that, put a ring on it, baby.
- Funky Paris: What's the funniest thing you've seen working on the PubCrawl?
- Alex: Other than my Co-Pub Crawl Leader James' dancing?? ummm... some of the hookups that happen on the PubCrawl are pretty awesome. On my first pubcrawl a friend of mine came along, and at the last bar he pulled one of the girls from the pubcrawl. The next day was the the funniest... I went out for breakfast with him and it turned out that he did not get any of her contact information... not even a last name for a facebook friend request but he did just try to search her first name, and he came up with a gazillon hits. lol.
- Funky Paris: Best and worst things about living in Paris?
- Alex: The Best: Nightbuses, there are a ton of great bars, and art. I am a bit of an art geek. he Worst: When nightbuses mysteriously don't arrive, finding housing, and everything is so expensive.
- Funky Paris: What's your catchphrase
- Alex: No worries.
- Funky Paris: What do you like to do when not pub crawling?
- Alex: I love going to art exhibitions, and going to the bar with some friends for a drink and a laugh.
- Funky Paris: What's your favourite movie.
- Alex: That's sooo tough... I love the 80s and the Cure, so obviously I love pretty much any John Hughes film, but my favourite is Ferris Bueller's Day Off. As for serious films my favourite is The Graduate.
- Funky Paris: Final Words?
- Alex: Yeah! Everybody come to the pubcrawl, let's get funky and have a good time! Every Saturday night!!!!!!
