This month’s Funky Choice is brilliant, but certainly not a movie to cheer you up, and the Funky Flop is possibly bad enough to make you suicidal.. We couldn’t even recommend it to Thiery Henry...

FUNKY CHOICE
- The Road (8.5/10)A remarkably accurate adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's deeply depressing novel. A father & son make a post apocalyptic southward journey across a ravaged America in search of warmer weather. They have little with which to defend themselves, neither against the elements nor against the lawless cannibalistic bands they encounter along their way. Luckily, Viggo Mortensen's career best performance, excellent cinematography and an amazing musical score combine to make this quite depressing tale into a truly great movie…. but not for anyone already suffering from depression…

Other Releases This Month
- The Proposition (7.5/10A fabulously brutal “western” (set in Australia). A lawman apprehends a notorious outlaw and gives him 9 days to kill his older brother, or else they'll execute his younger brother.
Excellent cinematography, some beautiful scenery, and great performances all round, but, above all else, an intriguing plot full of twists and turns.
